The fun, fashion and sparkling wine of Ladies Day.
Kennedy Oaks Day, as part of the Melbourne Spring Cup Carnival at Flemington Racecourse, in Melbourne, Australia.
I did intend on bringing you a short yet comprehensive report on Kennedy Oaks Day as part of the Melbourne spring cup carnival at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne. However, as grand tradition goes, my Oaks Day ladies and I consumed a few glasses of, Veuve Clicquot, during preparations at the house, so once arriving at Ladies Day my plan went out the window as we entered the Precinct and our hunt for a table, chairs and more sparkling wine began.
I ended up placing bets on two races throughout the day. Correctly selecting two horses, Linguist and Winkelman, both in the opening race - I have to add, this is the first time I have ever arrived for the opening race. In hindsight, I should have bet on more races, however, as mentioned above - sparking wine. Add the great conversation, table minding, plus dancing to the live band playing inside the Precinct, and the day went past very quickly. My cousin had a win with Pinot in the Kennedy Oaks Cup so at least someone at our table was still winning.
Entertainment wrapped up in the Precinct, and we head for the taxi line approximately 5 pm.
Instead of a detailed report, all I ended up with was the above paragraphs and a random selection of photos taken on my iPhone, that really show nothing more than our pretty race day outfits and increasing intoxication level.
Enjoy? Better luck next year, perhaps.

Yay! Awesome blog. Finally someone who stayed at The Precinct for the Flemington races. Just wondering, could you see the race track from the precinct area? Or is it tv screens?

Hi Carmen, Sorry for the delay, I have been in Vietnam and Cambodia. Yes, you can see the race track, it is positioned along the race track, however not near the finish line.
